Dire ratings sees ITV axe Saturday night Marven series

LONDON - ITV has pulled its Nigel Marven Saturday night adventure show 'Scream!... If You Want to Get Off' after just three episodes as ratings dropped to disappointing levels.

The show's popularity waned from an unimpressive 4.2m or 20% start on New Year's Day to 3.7m or 18% of the viewing audience last week.

An hour-long episode of the show was supposed to run for six weeks in the 6.10pm slot usually taken up by reality TV success stories 'X Factor' and 'Pop Idol', which usually secured around 7m viewers each week.

ITV has chosen to broadcast US blockbuster 'Jurassic Park' this Saturday coming instead, with sequel 'Jurassic Park 2' screening next week.

'Scream!... If You Want to Get Off', produced by Granada, the makers of 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!', saw wildlife presenter Nigel Marven challenge 12 members of the public to tasks against the elements, their senses and animals. 'I'm a Celebrity' contestant Lord Brockett fronted the series.

In the final show, due to air on March 5, the last two contestants were to battle Marven for a cash prize. If Marven won, the contestants would go home empty-handed, with the money going to a charity of his choice.
