- Editor Noelle McElhatton has yet to witness the much-heralded decline in financial services direct mail volumes, receiving credit card offers from MBNA, Barclaycard and Capital One last month. "Capital One even managed to send two mailers in one day - a credit card offer and one for insurance products. The quest for that single customer view is obviously still ongoing at Capital One."
Diary: Thumbs up, thumbs down
Marketing Direct senior reporter Claire Foss was impressed with British Gas's customer communication this month. "I was offered a free 'green' box of treats, including two energy-saving lightbulbs, to opt into its customer magazine. I thought I'd receive vouchers, but got a great mailpack full of helpful leaflets and the bulbs. Result: they get my opted-in data and I feel valued. A very fair swap."
