Diary: Smart voice. Can it be Garrison Keillor again?

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then the egos of Wieden & Kennedy's Matt Gooden and Ben Walker must be positively gargantuan by now.

As the authors of the Honda "cog" ad, the duo have watched their work influence the output of many an agency. First up there was WCRS's 118 118 "tribute".

Less impressive was Ogilvy & Mather's Ford C-Max spot. As 北京赛车pk10's Turkey of the Week phrased it: "a council house version" of the "cog" film.

More recently there's the new spot for the Smart forfour. Was the brief to the casting agent "find me someone with a voice like the bloke in Honda's ads"? It sure sounds that way. Either that, or Garrison Keillor is becoming the voice of car advertising.
