DIARY: Saatchis - the place of no return, particularly for ex-staff at McCann

When staff quit Saatchi & Saatchi, they really quit. Departing staff have a habit of firmly shutting the door behind them when they exit the Charlotte Street agency, leaving themselves very little chance of being asked back for a second stint.

There's the obvious example of Maurice and Charles. Then there's their former colleague, Sir Martin Sorrell. Not to mention the likes of Paul Cowen and Chris Arnold. The list goes on and on.

Well it would seem that very little has changed and that Saatchis is still taking a dim and suspicious view of its former charges.

During the preparations for the recent leaving do of an account operative, Saatchis' top brass apparently demanded that the person in question submit their guest list, so that all of the former Saatchis, now McCann-Erickson employees, could be rooted out and banned from attending.

Here's to forgiving and forgetting.
