Diary of an agency start-up: Pressing the flesh on our roadshow

Henry Daglish, the founder of Bountiful Cow, is writing a diary for 北京赛车pk10 about his media agency start-up. This is his second instalment.

After the heady euphoria of launch week (DIY web-design, key-cutting and Companies House), week two saw us kick on with the real business of attempting to launch a media agency while the rest of the world is winding down for Christmas in a boozy haze of mulled wine and Prosecco.

But kick on we did, and it's been an eventful one. We're dedicating a lot of time meeting with like-minded creative agencies.

On Monday we popped over to London’s fashionable East End to meet with Wieden & Kennedy boss Neil Christie to chat about one of our favourite subjects – bringing media and creative closer together again and the opportunity that independents have to do that.

There’s plenty of shared ambition there and clearly Wieden is an agency we’d love to partner with in the future.

We found out on Friday we'd been blocked on Twitter by the chief executive of a network agency. Blimey! I wasn’t sure whether to be offended or laugh

There are also plenty of media owners on the Bountiful Cow roadshow and Tuesday and Wednesday saw us see new and old friends at Sky, News UK, Global, JC Decaux, Primesight and Facebook.

A central tenet of our vision is that media agencies need to get better at working more closely with media owners again. It seems mad that we even need to even say that.

The talent and technology across all of the businesses we’ve seen is mind-blowing and we can’t wait to start plugging it in to our work from the start of 2017.

Thursday saw us immersed in some exciting pitch work with our friends at the inimitable St Lukes.

It’s our very first joined-up "media x creative" pitch and it’s an absolute delight to be working with such a fantastically talented team. Fingers crossed on this one.

If I were the client, I would be awarding us the business on the spot. Obviously.

Finally, we found out on Friday we'd been blocked on Twitter by the chief executive of a network agency. Blimey! I wasn’t sure whether to be offended or laugh, although in the end I did quite a lot of the latter.

Seems like this Cow is making its presence felt in a corner of the industry already.

And if you're reading this, you're welcome to follow us back any time.
