DfT to sponsor British Superbikes Championships

LONDON - The Department for Transport is sponsoring the British Superbikes Championships in a deal organised by Carat Sport. The racing series will now be known as the Think! British Superbikes Championship.

The DfT has developed a theme for its sponsorship, "THINK! Save racing for the track", in a bid to cut the number of bikers killed or injured on non-built up roads and to promote advanced driving skills assessment.

David Jamieson, the road safety minister, said: "Leisure sports bike riding is on the increase. As bikers take advantage of rural roads to test their vehicles – and their own – full potential, the risks and terrible consequences can be far too high. The deal provides an excellent opportunity to get the Think! campaign’s bike safety messages directly to those most at risk."

The championship series involves 13 nationwide rounds and attracts over a quarter of a million spectators and is televised live on Sky Sports with highlights on BBC Grandstand.
