Event services supplier Star Events Group has secured £1.3m backing from Bank of Scotland Corporate. The funding will enable the group to develop new equipment and allow for a 20% increase in the number of events it can manage. Star Events Group has provided rigging and staging to events such as Live8 and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations. Its clients include Wembley Arena and Live Nation. James Harris, the bank’s director of new business in Northampton, said: “During Live8 it became obvious that the business needed to be able to manage huge increases in staff in the run-up to an event and needed capital to invest in the latest technology.” The company has an annual turnover of £5m and employs 32 full-time staff, with up to 300 contractors during peak season.
