For Hatcher, who also starred in the long-running 'New Adventures of Superman' TV series and the James Bond movie 'Tomorrow Never Dies', the Clairol campaign is the first beauty campaign she has appeared in.
She joins the likes of 'Seinfeld' actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus and 'Dynasty' star Linda Evans, who have previously appeared in ads for the Procter & Gamble-owned brand in the 90s and 80s respectively.
The ads, created by P&G agency Grey Worldwide, part of the WPP Group, follows the relaunch of the leading hair colourant brand Nice 'n Easy last year. The relaunch is its first major revamp since P&G bought the brand from Bristol Myers Squibb in November 2001.
The high-profile, 41-year-old Hatcher, riding high on the success of the Channel 4 series 'Desperate Housewives', is the ideal spokeswoman for the brand, which is targeted at 30- to 45-year-old women.
However, Hatcher said she has had grey hair long before that, with a touch appearing when she was 25.
"In all my career, in my ups and downs, I've never had a beauty campaign. This was meaningful that at almost 41 years old, I could be getting my first beauty campaign," Hatcher told the Associated Press in a recent interview.
The deal is one of a number that the 'Desperate Housewives' stars are racking up. Earlier this year, co-star Eva Longoria was signed by L'Oreal to promote its haircare products.
