Derek Morris returns to media roots at ZenithOptimedia

LONDON - Derek Morris, the chief strategy officer at Publicis, is moving to its sister group agency ZenithOptimedia as its vice-chairman.

Morris will work across ZenithOptimedia client business reporting to the chief executive Antony Young and will also try to forge closer links between the media agency and Publicis.

Publicis poached Morris from his communications planning start-up, Unity, two years ago. The aim was to bring a more integrated approach to its work for clients. The agency was the biggest to bring media expertise back in-house.

Tim Lindsay, recently installed as the UK chairman of Publicis, intends to replace Morris with a planning director charged with building a "holistic planning function" across its operations. This process has been underway for some time.

Morris will remain on the Publicis UK group board and will also maintain his relationship with shared group clients as Publicis tries to integrate its media and creative offering.
