Danks was previously the ad controller of the Daily Star and Daily Star Sunday.
The departing trio are: Karen Newton, group classified advertising director; Jeremy Slattery, ad controller on the Daily Express; and Gary Savage, ad controller on the Sunday Express.
Stan Myerson, group joint managing director, said: "Many of our advertisers tell us that they need fewer points of reference to be able to place advertising in all of our publications, and I am confident this move will achieve the required result."
Newton was recruited from Associated Newspapers in July 2003 by Mike Orlov, for a role on the launch of Richard Desmond's projected London freesheet.
Orlov quit in February due to the delays in being able to get the project off the ground. However, London Mayor Ken Livingstone and the Office of Fair Trading have since cleared the way for an afternoon freesheet.
