Dentsu Aegis Network pay gap widens to one-third in favour of men

Dentsu Aegis Network’s average gender pay gap widened to almost one-third in favour of men in 2018.

The company, whose agencies include Carat, Vizeum and Mcgarrybowen, today reported a mean (group average) pay gap of 30.5% and median (the midpoint in the ranges of women and men’s pay) of 17.6% across its UK offices. For 2017, those figures were 26.1% and 14.1% respectively.

Dentsu Aegis Network has split the reporting across its London and Manchester divisions. The mean in London widened to 28.5% and the median was 18.3% in 2018, compared with 27.4% and 14.5% in 2017. In Manchester, the mean was 27% (up from 20.7% in 2017) and the median was 5.5% (up from 1.8% in 2017).

All companies with 250 staff or more must reveal their gender pay gap figures as part of government legislation. The deadline is Thursday 4 April.

Nick Waters, executive chairman at Dentsu Aegis Network UK and Ireland, said: "One of the five values of Dentsu Aegis Network is ‘responsible’. That includes a responsibility to treat all our employees equally by building a balanced, honest and fair company for everyone.

"We recognise that more progress is required to achieve gender parity at all levels of our organisation and are committed to achieving our ambition of 40% female representation in leadership roles by 2020, as outlined within our report.

"We will continue to review and monitor our trends closely and develop and embed new approaches to close our gap and further strengthen ourselves as a progressive, fair and responsible employer."
