- London new media agency, Deepend, has appointed Peter Beech, the former Webmedia and Leo Burnett director, as managing director.

He takes over the role from Deepend founder, Gary Lockton. Beech will take over the day to day running of Deepend in London while Lockton moves to the position of chief executive and takes responsibility of establishing Deepend globally.

Beech joins from the Webmedia Group, where he was managing director. Beech had previously spent nine months at Leo Burnett where he was head of new media, and before that was a director at CHBi.

Lockton said: "We are all delighted that Peter has accepted our offer to become managing director in London in preference to some significant competitive offers. This commitment to Deepend with his experience at CHBi and Leo Burnett will be invaluable to us over the coming years."

He added: "His challenge is to further raise our level of client service and efficiency, whilst ensuring our expansion leaves no adverse effects on our internal culture - something that is so important to us. This is no mean feat, but I have every confidence that Peter will achieve it".

The digital agency, which is based in Shoreditch, London, has grown from its three founders and directors to a team of 51 full-time creatives in four years. Its clients include BT, the BBC, Microsoft and Andersen Consulting.
