Debenhams set for £18m review

Debenhams is reviewing its £18m media account out of Carat. The decision follows its change in ownership and the appointment of former Homebase chief Rob Templeman as chief executive.

A Debenhams spokeswoman confirmed the search for a media agency. She said it would be reviewing all commercial operations and suppliers across the business. It is not clear whether the review will include Debenhams' creative account held by WCRS.

Debenhams is already accepting informal approaches from agencies. Carat is still under contract and has not yet been put on notice.

Templeman replaced Belinda Earl as chief executive last year, following Debenhams' £1.7bn takeover by Baroness Retail, a consortium led by CVC Capital Partners and Texas Pacific Group.

In January, it signalled its intention to review its participation in the Nectar customer loyalty scheme, but has since reaffirmed its commitment to it by signing up as a redemption partner.
