De Boer shows why it's such a favourite

From ancient castles to glittering royal palaces, Britain's most historic buildings are becoming an increasingly popular backdrop to spectacular parties, conferences and exhibitions.

But the celebration of Britain's heritage has coincided with a growing demand for temporary accommodation to be created alongside our famous landmarks.
Structure specialist De Boer has been at the forefront of the recent phenomenon, supplying short-term facilities at many of Britain's best-known locations - including the Houses of Parliament, Hampton Court Palace and Warwick Castle.

The company's success has been attributed to many factors - not least the quality and choice of its vast portfolio of structures.
However, working near - and sometimes inside - Britain's most famous buildings calls for additional skills, such as an ability to operate against the clock, to deal with difficult or restricted access or to cope with strictly enforced rules on working hours.

At the Tower of London, for example, Brackley-based De Boer provided four separate structures on the historic moat to create a temporary venue for an international gathering of 900 medical experts.

The assignment involved the erection of the largest-ever temporary development in the Tower's grounds - and, because of the restricted access, called for the use of a special miniature forklift and for some equipment to be carried by hand for up to 100 metres.

At National Trust stately home De Boer even commissioned an architectural scan of the site to ensure that structures for a summer ball wouldn't damage a precious walled garden constructed by famous designer Capability Brown - but now buried beneath the surface.

The public's growing love of ice skating has also involved De Boer working at historic sites - such as . At each location the company has provided facilities such as rink bases, skate-hire structures and café areas for temporary rinks created in the run-up to Christmas.

De Boer has been a regular visitor to centuries-old Warwick Castle, which has made use of the company's structures for a succession of events including weddings and corporate celebrations. At one recent assignment, De Boer provided more than 2,000 square metres of accommodation, complete with air conditioning, linings and carpets, for a finance company's spectacular summer ball.

And De Boer has even taken up residence alongside one of Britain's most recognisable landmarks - the Houses of Parliament. Structures were erected in the Palace's riverside grounds for a glittering corporate party.
