DDB Worldwide has been named as the "most awarded agency network in the world" in this year's Gunn Report.
It is the second time DDB has won the accolade. The first was in 1999, on the launch of the report by Donald Gunn, the former Cannes president and ex-Leo Burnett creative.
The report combines the winners from the world's top regional, national and global awards ceremonies. Agencies and brands are awarded points for each qualifying entry and each best of show.
DDB had eight agencies in the top-50 table. The highest ranking was DDB London, which was propelled up the league 11 places from its 2003 placing.
Its print campaign "cops" for Volkswagen was the main reason for its success.
Only two more UK ads were in the top 20: Lowe's work for Quality Street finished in tenth, while Saatchi & Saatchi's campaign for Coco de Mer was 18th.
However, the two most- awarded ads in the world were by UK offices: Wieden & Kennedy's Honda "cog" and TBWA\London's "mountain" for Sony PlayStation 2.
Honda was the world's third-most decorated advertiser, behind VW and Sony.
In the most-awarded production companies category, Partizan claimed the top spot for 2004, finishing 22 points clear of the rest of the field.
Its four major winners came in its work for "cog", Nike's "musical chairs", the Bud Light "real men of genius" campaign and Tango.
The producer of Sony PlayStation's "mountain" spot, Gorgeous Enterprises, was the runner-up, while Stink returned to the top ten.
In the director's category, Partizan's Antoine Bardou-Jacquet made his debut, having directed "cog". He shared third position with Gorgeous' Frank Budgen and Traktor.
But the most-awarded director was Thailand's Suthon Petchsuwan. Last year's winner, Thanonchai Sornsriwichai, came in second.
The league of most creative countries offered no real surprises. In a repeat performance of last year's standings Britain once again came in second behind the US.
Along with DDB London, three UK outfits made it into the top 20 of the most-awarded agencies in the world. Wieden & Kennedy's London office came in in second place, while Clemmow Hornby Inge shared 19th position with Lowe.
