DDB London scoops Grand Prix at Eurobest

LONDON - DDB London won the TV/Cinema Grand Prix for VW at the Eurobest Advertising Festival yesterday, in what was a good night for the UK as MPG London took the Grand Prix for BBC iPlayer.

DDB won the TV/Cinema prize for its VW Polo commercial 'Dog' while MPG won for the BBCi Player's 'Targeting the zone of disappointment'.

As well as DDB London winning the TV/Cinema Grand Prix, DDB Amsterdam's ad 'Product recall', also for VW Golf, took the Print Grand Prix. The Dutch agency also won the Outdoor Grand Prix for Central Beheer Achmea's 'Back of the Bus'.

Mother won a gold for its latest Orange 'Goldspot' campaign featuring Anjelica Huston.

The UK also scored well in the digital categories. Agency Republic won a gold for work on Mercedes and a silver for 02, and just missed out on winning the inaugural Interactive Agency of the Year Award, which went to Farfar in Stockholm.

Tribal DDB picked up a bronze also for work on VW and AKQA London picked up a silver for Nike.

Mediaedge:cia won a silver for Sony Ericsson and Saatchi & Saatchi a bronze for its quit smoking campaign.

Leo Burnett won a bronze its Department for London Transport drive, as did Red Bee Media for its BBC Three rebrand campaign

The Sales Promotion Grand Prix went to Heimat Berlin's 'House of Imagination' for Hornbach and Norpol+ Hamburg took home the first ever Design Grand Prix with 'Origami' for ASICS.

There were no Grand Prix winners awarded in the interactive, radio, direct and integrated categories.

The Eurobest Festival saw a record 5896 entries this year with 1199 shortlisted. Judging in Stockholm, Sweden saw the juries award a total of 249 winners.

Germany was the big winner on the night with 81 awards followed by Sweden with 41 and Belgium in third place with 23.

TBWA\Paris and DDB Germany, Berlin were joint winners of The European Agency of the Year with DDB Amsterdam coming in third place.
