The agency competed for the account against TBWA\London, M&C Saatchi and one other undisclosed agency. The pitch was handled by the IG Group marketing director, David Hodge.
DDB will now take responsibility for building the IG Index brand, which offers spread betting opportunities across a range of financial instruments, throughout its global markets.
These include Europe, Australia, Singapore and the US.
The agency will work alongside MediaCom, which was recently appointed as the IG Group's media planning and buying agency.
The agency was selected to handle the £12 million global media account in August of this year, following a pitch against ZenithOptimedia and PHD.
Until now, IG Index has produced its global advertising in-house, but DDB's appointment marks a shift away from a regional approach towards a consolidated global arrangement.
The IG Group also operates IG Sport, a sports spread-betting offering that it re-launched in April this year.
