LONDON (Brand Republic) - Beano and Dandy publisher DC Thomson has increased its stake in Scottish Radio Holdings (SRH) to almost 9.6%.

The Dundee-based publishing house, whose titles also include the Sunday Post and People''s Friend, bought 431,000 shares in Scottish Radio yesterday at a value of 1,725p a share, taking its holding close to 3.16m shares.

Last week, Scottish Radio did not rule out further sales of its shares and was holding talks with interested parties. SRH shares were down 20p on Friday at 1,705p, giving the group a value of £563m.

Scottish Radio, owner of the Radio Clyde station in Glasgow and Edinburgh''s Radio Forth, said last week it was still in talks with a number of parties which could lead to an offer.

Fellow UK media group SMG, whose assets include the ITV franchise Scottish Television, currently holds around 20.75% of SRH. It has been building up a stake in the company in advance of the liberalisation of cross-media ownership rules.
