Davidoff links to extreme sports for youth appeal

Davidoff Perfumes is to target the youth market with the launch of a global sponsorship campaign linking its brand to surfing, snowboarding and free-skiing competitions.

It has hired sports marketing agency Sports Vision to handle the campaign, which will see Davidoff's men's and women's fragrance brand Cool Water sponsoring freestyle events at a selection of the world's premier competitions.

Davidoff Cool Water Xpression Session will kick off in November at international surfing competition 2002 Hawaiian Pro. A selection of the world's best surfers will be invited to enter the Cool Water sessions to compete for a $10,000 (£6470) prize.

Other events that will feature Cool Water Xpression Sessions have not yet been finalised, though Sports Vision said it will sponsor a major snowboarding event in Europe.

Sports Vision is responsible for creating a global visual identity for the campaign as well as overseeing its event management, PR activity, TV programming and distribution, and other below-the-line activity. Davidoff will run in-store promotions to coincide with events around the world.
