Crocs has bowed to teasing it received after posting a tweet in tribute to late music legend David Bowie, deleting the post less than one hour after publishing it.

The post included a picture of a white Crocs shoe with a graphic of a red lightning bolt layered on top, echoing the lightning bolt painted over the face of Bowie’s alter-ego Ziggy Stardust.

"Your magic will be missed, but your inspiration lives on forever. #DavidBowie," Crocs wrote in the post.

The backlash started immediately after Crocs posted the tweet.

Space race: Audi enters Google competition to put Quattro Rover on moon

Audi has put together a team of crack scientists and engineers to manufacture a lunar rover and enter to put a robotic vehicle on Earth's cosmic neighbour, a project that encapsulates its 'Vorsprung durch Technik' slogan.

Ben Bold explains Audi has teamed up with a group of engineers dubbed ‘The Part-Time Scientists’, and will use its vehicular technologies – spanning lightweight construction methods (using magnesium in the build), piloted driving and Quattro all-wheel drive – to inform the project.

Google’s $30m Google Lunar XPrize is aimed at inspiring engineers and entrepreneurs to develop low-cost methods of robotic space exploration.

The winning team must design and build a lunar rover that can be placed on the moon, explore and send HD video back to Earth.

The new designs, described by the company as "simple and fresh", will spread out to all of its restaurants worldwide this year.

The accessories include a sun hat, a pair of straw-spiked shoes and four handbags that can hold a Big Mac.

Ben Stiller's in a tie-up to promote both Zoolander 2 and the car brand.

The ad was scripted by Stiller and shot by Zoolander 2 director Jeff Man. Fiat’s vehicles also feature in the film, set for release on 12 February.
