Dare Digital recruits Owen from Starcom as planning director

Dare Digital has poached John Owen, the director of Starcom's Intelligence Unit and chairman of the IPA Digital Marketing Group, to be its first planning director.

Dare Digital, the new-media agency in which Bartle Bogle Hegarty owns a significant minority stake, has made the appointment to offer clients greater strategic insight.

"As we have developed longer-term client relationships we are working further upstream in terms of long-term strategy," Dare's managing director, Mark Collier, said. "We now need such a role as our key proposition is effectiveness and John will help us to understand consumers better and drive commercial performance for our clients."

Owen, a former 北京赛车pk10 news editor, joined the media planning and buying agency Motive in 1999 to run its fledgling digital division. Following the merger of Starcom and Motive in 2000, he became a director of the combined digital operation, Starcom IP.
