Danone launches humorous ad for Actimel brand

LONDON - Danone has launched a campaign for its Actimel probiotic yoghurt-drink brand that focuses on humour rather than scientific research.

It follows the news that the European Union (EU) is reviewing claims made by such health drinks after many were dismissed by a team of EU experts.

The ad, by Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R, is light-hearted and has the strapline ‘Have you had your Actimel today'.

The first ad shows a couple preparing a BBQ in the snow. Neighbours watching over the fence say ‘they've been drinking...'. The ad features Doris Day's ‘It's a Great Feeling'.

Francois Rillet, marketing director for Danone UK, said: 'Our immune system benefit has particular relevance during the winter months, but it's also a time when we need to have a more positive outlook on life. We think this campaign will gain a few smiles along the way.'
