Daly takes new top role at Virgin Radio

Virgin Radio is restructuring its sales team, promoting ex-MediaCom radio manager Jo Daly to the newly created role of head of sales strategy.

Daly will work with media agency planners to help them understand the station's audience and advertising offering.

She joined Virgin Radio as head of agency sales in 2005 from MediaCom, where she spent more than four years specialising in radio campaigns.

Other responsibilities will include liasing with industry body RadioCentre to ensure the stationfully understands research initiatives and contributes to industry marketing inititatives.

And Daly will work with advertisers to make sure their ads work with Virgin's overall on-air sound.

"This strategic position needs someone who understands planners' challenges and the way an agency works to make the sell truly credible," said Nick Hewat, sales director at Virgin Radio.

"We want to get closer to planners, to engage with them at relevant moments and influence their media decisions and choices."
