Daily Telegraph to revamp Saturday supplements

LONDON - The Daily Telegraph will unveil its revamped Saturday supplements this weekend, offering improved signposting, more online integration, modernised content, and the addition of Stephen Fry to its list of contributors.

Changes have been made across all of the newspaper's lifestyle sections, which include: Gardening; Motoring; Property; Weekend; Your Money; Television and Radio; Arts and Books; and the Telegraph Magazine. The newspaper group says the redesign reflects the changing interests of the title's readership.

Arts and Books will be renamed Review, and will now encompass film, music, DVD, TV, theatre and literature, and a multimedia review section called The Digital Life, which will be mirrored through the Telegraph website.

Television and Radio will now feature more channels, editorial coverage and a more user-friendly format. Fashion and Shopping will encompass more menswear and there will be increased coverage of health and environmental issues in Weekend and Telegraph Magazine.

The title has also added comedian and author Stephen Fry to its ranks of Weekend contributors, where he will join Ruby Wax and Graham Norton.

Michele Lavery, assistant editor of The Saturday Telegraph and editor of Telegraph Magazine, said: "We feel it is the right time to offer something a little more refreshing to the market.

"The revamp means our readers can anticipate more of the quality reporting they have come to expect from the Daily Telegraph, but in an entertaining and bold new format."

The changes cap a busy week for The Telegraph Group, which has opened new headquarters in London's Victoria as part of its print and digital integration, which will lead to job losses, and the promotion of Hannah Grahame to the newly created role of regional display group head.
