The tabloid is looking to introduce a more contemporary design following its switch to full colour production.

The new-look, which also involves the use of new fonts for subheadings and bylines, has been overseen by Daily Mirror deputy editor Conor Hanna and associate editor of development at the paper Matt Kelly.

The pair have been working on the project with Barcelona-based Cases Associats, which previously worked on the redesign of the Independent.

It is understood that more design changes will be introduced over the next three months.
