Daewoo’s sales strategy, Teletubbies, Viagra, and a wind-up lantern

designed along the lines of a wind-up radio have all been named in the

latest list of Millennium Products from the Design Council.

The products have been selected because they are innovative, creative

and forward-thinking. A selection of them will appear in the Millennium

Dome. So far three lists of Millennium Products have been released since

the first designs were announced last year by Prime Minister Tony

Blair.

The products will be showcased around the world in trade shows and are

said to represent the best in British design and innovation.

A Millennium Products database, ’Sharing Innovation’, is being developed

as a learning tool for schools, colleges and business, and will feature

many of the designs.

The latest list includes 201 services or products, on top of the 233

announced last year.

- What’s the Big Idea, a Marketing conference in association with the

Design Centre, on how to design and market world-beating products, takes

place at the Royal Festival Hall on June 8. For a programme call Faith

Manning on 0171 413 4390.
