Duckworth Finn Grubb Waters has seen off a challenge to its Daewoo
business and extended its relationship with the Korean car maker after a
series of pitches for the pan-European account.
Duckworth Finn, the incumbent on the pounds 15 million domestic UK
business, was charged with Daewoo’s first pan-European advertising
effort last year. It will now handle the company’s entire pan-European
budget as it runs its first regional advertising for specific car
models.
The agency defeated other European roster shops - including Boebel Adams
BBDO in Germany - as well as resisting challenges from non-roster
networks.
Duckworth Finn’s first task will be to develop pan-European campaigns
for the mini car, the Matiz, and the family-sized Nubira. The budget is
expected to be in the region of pounds 7 million.
The activity will be in addition to local advertising. The Matiz
campaign will break in early May with media being handled by Daewoo’s
national media companies including CIA in the UK.
’Daewoo has recognised a need to build on the brand across Europe,’
Dorian Leroy, head of marketing at Daewoo UK, said.
