D&AD calls for earlier Yellow Pencil entries

LONDON - There are only 54 shopping days to Christmas, and 77 days until the deadline for entries for next year's D&AD Yellow Pencil awards.

A call for entries for the awards, among the most celebrated in the advertising industry, will be launched on November 14, with the organisation offering two new methods for entries to be submitted.

Despite advance notice and nearly two full months to complete the awards process, many applicants are still expected to leave it to the last minute to enter. The deadline is January 17 2003.

In an effort to make the process easier, applications can be filled in and submitted online at D&AD's website for the first time. Participants will also be able to enter film awards via BEAM.TV, a storage system that holds digital video online, allowing it to be viewed by other parties.

D&AD has broadened the international focus of the awards -- which can be entered by practitioners from all around the world -- with more multi-language categories, and has also added an integrated creativity award.

Last year, more than 18,000 entries were received. Anyone entering before December 17 will receive a 10% discount on their fee. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London to be held in May 2003.
