The buying group is believed to be deciding whether to replace the former PHD head of press or whether to divide his responsibilities between joint managing directors Marc Bignell and John Overend.
Crow said: "My learning curve has been very steep indeed but this has enabled me to trade on a much higher plane. The template for a successful trading framework is now in place at OPera. I'm now relishing taking on a fresh challenge."
Bignell said: "Adam has been a key member of the OPera launch team, helping set up positive relationships with the print media owners and we thank him for his contribution and we wish him every success in the future."
Opera was set up in May 2004 and was primarily only based in the UK. It uses the buying clout of the OMD and PHD offices in the UK to negotiate with media owners to get the best prices for Omnicom clients.
Crow is the second high-profile member of OPera to leave the pooled buying operation. Head of radio buying, Jonathan Gillespie quit the operation in July last year. After a short time away from the media industry, he recently resurfaced to take operational control of RAB radio initiative UK Music Week, the cross-radio initiative to promote UK music acts.
In September last year, Omnicom announced that it would be rolling out OPera globally as part of aggressive expansion plans to make it, and the PHD network, the second global network representing the media and advertising giant.
