Crouch and Lewsey perform feats of strength for Powerade

LONDON - Rugby player Josh Lewsey and football star Peter Crouch battle it out in a new viral ad for energy drink Powerade, by carrying out what looks like amazing acts of strength, but are actually performed while laying on their backs on a grass pitch.

The ad, created by Nitro, is set to the song 'Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better' and shows the stars lying on their backs with the camera filming them from above, which gives the impression they are standing up and can carry out miraculous feats.

The ad starts when the two take a drink of Powerade and move on to hold heavy weights with one hand, play tug-o-war, stand on tip-toe on a bunch of rugby balls and balance several footballs on one foot while reading the paper.

The battle continues with jousting, snowboarding, skiing and swimming from sharks until London Wasps star Lewsey is named as the winner and handed a cup in a victory ceremony

The spot ends with the tagline "Powerade, the official sports drink of world cup winners", and shows Liverpool and England star Crouch miserably hitchhiking a lift to Germany on his way to the World Cup after being dubbed the loser.

Director on the ad is Paul Shearer, copywriter is Olly Farrington and art directors are Neil Richardson and Warren Frost
