Former property group Creston is to focus on e-commerce consultancy as it plans to relaunch as a marketing services company.
The company has proposed the acquisitions of Marketing Sciences and Synergie Consulting, and plans to follow a buy-and-build strategy should the deals be approved by its shareholders.
Creston's relaunch will see it look to make a couple of acquisitions each year in a variety of marketing sectors and e-commerce consultancy.
'I have decided that we need good solid performers, and as the company grows we will take more risks,' explained Don Elgie, chief executive designate of Creston.
'We're not interested in high risk b2c or e-commerce sectors that require enormous investment like technology. We'll be looking at consultancies that give advice with a marketing skew to e-commerce and bricks-and-mortar companies.'
However, Elgie admitted that such an acquisition could be US-based rather than a UK company.
'They tend to be a little bit more established,' he commented. 'It's still early days, but we have a number of feelers out there.'
He added that the timing is ideal for such a move. 'I think it's a very good time to offer sensible, mature advice,' said Elgie. 'In my view, management has not focused on the critical need to turn to profit.'
