The Cravendale-branded drinks will go on sale in major multiples later this month.
Cravendale Hint of Wild Strawberry and Vanilla variants are planned for the spring, giving it a presence in the lucrative snacking sector.
Thryth Jarvis, senior brand manager for Cravendale, said the launch marked a major shift in strategy for the firm.
'We have to think and act like a drinks manufacturer rather than just a dairy company,' she said.
She added that it was an 'obvious' area to launch into, as there is no branded fresh natural milk in the market and with traditional carbonated soft drinks in decline, there is an opportunity to capitalise on growing consumer concern over health.
Supermarket insiders believe the format has a good chance of success.
'There is a huge opportunity in the branded milk market, as the majority of products are own-label and Cravendale has loyal following,' said one.
At the end of last year, Arla Foods embarked on a review of the £25m creative account for its dairy range. DDB London handles the Cravendale and Lurpak accounts, while Clemmow Hornby Inge manages Anchor.
The decision to enter the snack market follows the departure of head of marketing Hanne Sondergaard after the dairy group named Simon Stevens as its top UK marketer following a reshuffle (Marketing 16 November).
