Corgi appoints AIS to build brand awareness activity

Corgi, the gas safety watchdog, has appointed Archibald Ingall Stretton as its first direct agency. The business is estimated to be worth £1.5m.

AIS has been tasked with creating digital and offline campaigns to boost Corgi's profile among consumers. It comes as calls from other trade bodies mount to end its monopoly of the gas safety market.

Corgi has run its own gas registration scheme in the UK for 15 years under the licence of the Health and Safety Executive which carries out a standard review every five years. Corgi has more than 50,000 gas businesses and 110,000 individual operators on its books.

Corgi is also planning activity targeting the UK's 21m gas customers to promote safety and increase awareness of its additional services, such as registration and monitoring of plumbers and electricians, which it rolled out in April.

Tullo Marshall Warren and Harrison Troughton Wunderman also pitched for the business. A third agency pulled out before the pitch.
