Conde Nast and Miva link up to extend Glamour's reach

Conde Nast has signed a deal with pay-for-performance provider Miva that will allow it to offer branded news and search toolbars on each of its magazine's websites.

Glamour magazine's website will be the first to debut the toolbar, which can be downloaded onto users' desktops, later this month. Other titles are set to follow.

Planned features for the Glamour toolbar include a celebrity news ticker and deep links, which take users to high traffic areas of the Glamour site like Glam Cam, Daily Gossip and Fashion Finder.

The search box on the toolbar will have a full search function, provided by Miva, with both pay-per-click ads and algorithmic search results.

Conde Nast Interactive is hoping the toolbar will enable users to interact with the Glamour brand even when they are not visiting www.glamourmagazine.co.uk.

Abigail Chisman, editor-in-chief of Conde Nast Interactive, said the "customised toolbar reflects the design style of Glamour and enables us to extend the reach of the brand online".

Sep Bishop, director and chief marketing officer of Miva, added: "Miva has a unique position in the market - we are not a destination site, so we do not compete with publishers for audience. Our focus is to provide our partners with a complete set of innovative products which enable the retention and monetisation of their online audiences."

Conde Nast also publishes Vogue, Tatler, GQ, Conde Nast Traveller and Vanity Fair.
