COI shortlists two for £35m press account

LONDON – The COI has reduced the shortlist for the £35m press buying account to incumbent MediaCom and Starcom.

Walker Media and Initiative have been eliminated from the review.

Starcom already works with COI. It took over the £20m radio planning and buying contract from OMD UK in June.

COI's £2m cinema buying contract is also under review and Carat, MindShare, Manning Gottlieb OMD, ZenithOptimedia and Initiative have been invited to pitch against incumbent Universal McCann.

The government communications organisation is also reviewing its strategic media planning roster. The incumbents include Naked, Starcom, PHD and The Ingram Partnership.

Earlier this year, COI renewed its creative roster. Agencies including Wieden & Kennedy and Clemmow Hornby Inge were appointed to the £156m account.
