COI creates 15-strong roster for online work

COI Communications has created a roster of 15 agencies to handle its 拢4 million online creative business.

The roster includes six agencies that are new to working with COI on online activity. These are: Arnold Interactive, Wheel, iTraffic, Dare Digital, Incline and EHS Brann.

COI's new creative roster follows the appointment last week of i-Level to handle online planning and buying. The changes follow a decision by Jamie Galloway, COI's head of digital media, to streamline online agency arrangements as the medium becomes more important to COI.

Other agencies on the creative roster include Craik Jones, Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper, Publicis, Glue London, Profero, Random and Arc Interactive.

COI had previously used a wider variety of agencies for its online creative work and looked at around 100 agencies before putting the new roster in place. Its online arrangements now mirror its approach to above-the-line creative and media agencies, with a roster of creative agencies and a single media agency handling buying.

According to COI's own figures, government spend on online advertising was 拢1.2 million for the financial year 2000 to 2001. That figure more than doubled to 拢2.6 million in 2001 to 2002. It is set to increase again to more than 拢4 million for 2002 to 2003.

Current COI online activity includes campaigns for UK Online and the Department of Education and Skills.
