LONDON (Brand Republic) – Cohn & Wolfe in New York, a PR unit of Young & Rubicam, has laid off 30 employees, representing more than 8% of its 350-strong US workforce.

The WPP Group-owned company blamed the economic downturn for the job cuts. Stephen Aiello, Cohn & Wolfe president and worldwide chief executive, also cited cautious clients and normal attrition. The cuts will be spread across the agency’s US offices and come on top of 10 job cuts in January.
