
Coca-Cola claims the new packaging for Odwalla juice is the first 100% recyclable bottle to be distributed in the US.
Odwalla single-serve bottles are now made from 100% plant based materials, using high-density polythene plastic (HDPE), while the Dasani water brand's packaging is made from PET plastic, which is up to 30% recyclable.
Scott Vitters, general manager, PlantBottle packaging platform, The Coca-Cola Company, said: "It's our goal to make traditional plastic bottles a thing of the past and ensure that every beverage we produce is available in 100% plant-based, fully recyclable packaging.
"The national launch of Dasani PlantBottle packaging represents an important step toward reducing our carbon footprint, and the up to 100% plant-based, recyclable packaging used for Odwalla is the first of its kind in the beverage industry."
Coca-Cola launched the global PlantBottle sustainable packaging initiative two years ago, which originally aimed to make bottles from 30% renewable sources to reduce the company's dependence on petroleum oil. .

Heinz also plans to introduce PlantBottle technology for its ketchup packaging this summer, under licence from the Coca-Cola Company.
