From June, 60,000 households in The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead will be entitled to take part in the scheme and redeem points achieved for recycling, to claim £1 off Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Coke Zero products in a range of pack sizes.
The initiative will mean Coca-Cola becomes a top tier sponsor of Recyclebank in the UK.
Liz Lowe, citizenship manager for Coca-Cola, said: "As well as ensuring we recycle our own waste as a business, we are committed to encouraging our consumers to recycle theirs. Empty packaging isn’t just waste, it’s a valuable resource which can be used again and again through recycling."
Sue Igoe, UK managing director at Recyclebank, said: "Recyclebank is leading the charge towards environmental change on a daily basis. The trials in the UK have proven that by incentivising households, we can increase participation and frequency of recycling."
The partnership mirrors a similar one that has been running in the US since 2004.
According to The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, which ran a pilot scheme involving 6,500 households in 2009, 70% of eligible households have activated their rewards accounts and more than five million Recyclebank Points have earned discounts and offers at more than 100 shops, leisure centres, businesses, attractions and cafés/restaurants and charities.
The borough also stated that residents in the trial increased recycling by as much as 35%.
