The decision to separate marketing for the group's online sales channels follows an increase in demand among consumers to search for, and book, holidays online.
The company's two main web sites, www.cooptravelshop.co.uk and apollotravel.co.uk, attract an average of 10,000 visitors a day.
The travel group is now seeking to fill the role of general manager of the e-commerce division. The post will report to general manager Mike Greenacre.
Marketing was previously handled by group marketing manager Derry Hopkins, who continues to head marketing for the group's high-street travel brands, Apollo Travel, Co-op Travel and Wise Travel.
Hopkins said: "Now that our revenue from web channels has exceeded the £5m-a-year mark, we have taken a strategic decision to separate our e-commerce operations into a separate division."
