Co-operative Holidays will be a joint partnership between The Co-operative and Monarch Travel Group-owned direct travel agent Cosmos Holidays.

While Co-operative Travel operates 400 high street travel agencies across the UK, until now it has offered holidays from a number of third-party tour operators. This is the first time holidays will have been packaged under the Co-operative brand.

A Co-operative Travel spokesman said the new holiday packages are likely to focus on destinations popular with branch customers, such as resorts on the Mediterranean.

‘In the past 18 months the travel industry has developed at an exceptional pace which has now given us a different perspective on launching our own brand tour operation,' said Mike Greenacre, managing director of The Co-operative Travel Group.

‘What we are about to embark upon is much more driven by the re-launch of The Co-operative brand and the values that our customers, staff and members put upon it'
