Co-op to align bank and insurance offer

LONDON - The Co-operative Group is relaunching its Co-operative Bank and Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS) operations to bring them under its main umbrella brand.

Co-op to align bank and insurance offer

From this week, CIS will be rebranded Co-operative Insurance to highlight to consumers that it is part of the Co-operative Group.

Meanwhile, the group has created a Co-operative Investments brand to provide a home for its range of investment products. All 90 Co-operative Bank branches will carry the fresh identity from later this month.

The group will unveil an advertising campaign on 14 April to highlight the changes, marking the first time in 12 years that the bank and insurance operations have been promoted on TV.

Dig For Fire is lead agency on the marketing material and broadcast campaign, while Walsh Simmons will handle design and marketing, APS print and marketing, and Blacksheep the ambient and outdoor work.

A website, created by the group's in-house team, will be launched next month to bring together the bank, insurance and investment brands for the first time.

The rebranding is part of a wider, multimillion-pound transformation process at the group, which intends to introduce new products, step up its marketing, and outsource its back-office ad-ministration, among other functions. Until now, the design and layout of the group's various services, has been fragmented.

The Co-operative's strategy is being echoed by several other financial services companies, including Aviva and Santander, which are bringing their various operations under a single brand.
