Beginning on Monday, September 8, CNN will focus on two themes throughout the week: The War on Terror and View of America.
The themes are tackled in special documentaries, debates and in-depth reporting from around the globe, with CNN's correspondents investigating how the war on terror is unfolding and what the world thinks of the US today.
Some of CNN's most experienced journalists will report on every aspect of the war on terror, from the fight against the Taliban in Afghanistan to investigations in the terrorist strongholds of South East Asia and the alleged new hotbed of Al Qaeda activity, Iraq.
Shortly after September 11 2001, President Bush announced to the world "you're either with us, or against us" and the week of programmes also looks at how many friends and enemies the Bush administration has made and how these relationships are faring in the war on terror.
Highlights of CNN's reporting for '9/11: The Legacy' include pieces by CNN chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour from Afghanistan, where the war on terror started.
Amanpour will report on the Taliban's re-emergence, the strength of the warlords and how the meagre aid and lack of security continues to slow the reconstruction.
She goes on a mission with US troops in search of Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters and talks with President Hamid Karzai about his tasks ahead.
On September 11, 2003 CNN will also air live coverage from the World Trade Centre ceremony, as well as other memorial services across the US and around the world, including the Tribute in Light event in New York City, where searchlights will light the sky where the twin towers once stood.
On the anniversary date, CNN will re-air the CNN Presents documentary 'America Remembers,' a poignant account of the events of September 11 and its aftermath, through the eyes of CNN journalists who reported on the story.
