CMGI chooses FCB as global agency

Internet holding company CMGI has selected FCB Worldwide as its global advertising agency of record. The account is estimated to be worth $15m-$20m.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - Internet holding company CMGI has selected FCB Worldwide as its global advertising agency of record. The account is estimated to be worth $15m-$20m.

CMGI represents a network of 70 internet companies, including AltaVista and online advertising firm Engage, said that this will be the first time the CMGI brand is marketed on a global basis.

The assignment will involve developing global print and broadcast activity, as well as integrated marketing and interactive projects. The campaign is slated to break during the first quarter of 2001.

The account will be based in New York and will be led by Sean Healey, senior vice-president and group management director for FCB Worldwide. FCB is the fifth-largest agency in the world, with billings of $8.8bn in 1999. Its client roster includes Compaq, DaimlerChrysler, Amazon.com, AT&T, Avaya, SC Johnson and Coors.

CMGI recently won the naming rights to the new New England Patriots American football stadium, which will be called CMGI Field and is due to be completed in 2002. The agreement with the NFL includes hospitality, sponsorship and promotional rights in and around the stadium.
