Name: Jonathan Webb
Job: Managing director, Virgin Media Television
Professional mission: Put Virgin1 and Living in the top ten by
switchover
Personal mantra: Happy teeth + happy feet = happy life
6.15am Face my daily "man versus pillow" battle - but a combination of Five Live and five-year-old Oscar mean I don't fight for long.
7.19am On the train from Brighton to London. Stick to my "no e-mails before nine" rule, so the BlackBerry remains off. Instead, am making a concerted effort to read real books. Powering my way through Desperate Networks by Bill Carter, a fantastic romp through the recent ups and downs of the US networks.
9.03am Meet Target Entertainment, which we've recently appointed as our international production and distribution partner. Discuss plans for the Mipcom TV market and plot our best route to global domination (and the best prospects for yacht-based cocktails).
9.42am Review press cuttings with the PR team.
10.02am Fortnightly content board meeting with Malcolm Wall. James Wildman from IDS updates us on his team's sales performance, and it's looking really positive for us.
12.00pm A much-needed cup of tea with the director of TV, Claudia Rosencrantz, and Virgin1's director of programmes, Celia Taylor. We review the first few days of Virgin1.
1.07pm Lunch. Sushi. Yum.
2.49pm Have an exciting session with Virgin Media's mobile and broadband teams to plan a major (and ultra-secret) showpiece event to work across all of our platforms.
4.30pm Sir Richard Branson calls to talk about some upcoming press interviews he's doing about Virgin1. Relieved to hear his cricket pitch has recovered from the fairground we erected on it for the Virgin1 launch party a few weeks ago.
6.45pm Cab to the Bloomsbury Ballroom, where Living is staging a glitzy party for its autumn/winter schedule. Event has Dirty Dancing theme. As the Champagne flows, chat with Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and the Llewelyn-Bowens.
10.47pm Living's resident psychic Derek Acorah tells me of his latest encounters in Egypt, where he's been filming a new series. He tells me that spirits physically prevented him from revealing the location of a door to a pharoah's tomb. Spirits of a different kind physically prevent me from focusing properly.
11.56pm Back in Brighton, in bed, and horrified by thought that Oscar will be jumping on it in six hours.
