Close-Up: 24 Hours with ... David Jones, Euro RSCG Worldwide

Name: David Jones Job: Global chief executive officer, Euro RSCG Worldwide Professional mission: Deliver brilliant ideas that drive growth for our clients Personal mantra: Anything is possible

6.00am Land in Paris on the 6.00pm Air France flight from New York.

6.15am Grab taxi to Montelambert Hotel. Call my wife to let her know I've arrived. Call with George Gallate, our new Asia-Pacific CEO. We discuss Eddie Wong, the new China creative director, and plans for development there. We've won Diageo's CRM business in China.

7.00am Arrive at hotel. Check in. Quick shower and breakfast: hot chocolate, the entire bakery basket, muesli, fruit salad, OJ. Obviously, having just had breakfast on the plane, I was in need of more food. Download e-mails from the plane.

8.15am Taxi to offices. Read the pitch document for Tuesday. Work looks great. Type comments into the BlackBerry and send to team. Review Jaguar print. Looks fantastic.

9.00am Havas executive committee meeting starts. Everyone in fine form. Feel proud to be part of the group. It's 3.00am in NY and I'm starting to wilt. A quick pain au chocolat. I give an update on Euro RSCG. Vincent (Bollore) explains he's taking an office in our HQ building - another sign that he's around for the long term.

1.00pm Lunch. Being a French company has its advantages as the 1999 Pichon Longueville is opened.

2.00pm Leave for flight to Cleveland for pitch. Spend half of the taxi journey on the phone to my assistants. The other half playing "BlackBerry tennis". Call home.

2.50pm Arrive at the airport.

2.50pm - 4.00pm Calls and e-mails to clients, regional agency heads.

4.00pm Board flight to New York. There seems to be some kind of competition among the passengers to see who can appear the most important. I try to play but keep forgetting and smile and talk to the cabin crew. Grab some sleep. Spend rest of flight e-mailing. Eat twice.

6.20pm Arrive at JFK. More calls and BlackBerrying in limo to La Guardia for 8.59pm flight to Cleveland. More food, including hot fudge sundae.

11.30pm Arrive for the next day's pitch. Jeff Kling, the NY executive creative director, is running through his presentation. It's going to be a good pitch. Mmm, that cold pizza looks tempting ... Typical day. Loads of work and the privilege of dealing with really great creative work. I travel a lot. Reading this, I realise that I also eat a lot.
