The channel, which has already 2.4 million cable and satellite viewers, will now be streamed 24-hours a day to broadband internet users via classicfm.com.
Julian Rigamonti, head of Classic FM TV, said: 鈥淭he streaming service enables us to extend the channel鈥檚 potential reach to 2.5 million broadcast homes and continue to engage new audiences with classical music.鈥
Classic FM is the first broadcaster to stream its channel online as a way of advertising and generating revenue.
The service is provided by Global MIX and is sponsored by Volkswagen鈥檚 luxury car, the Phaeton, by arrangement with Tribal DDB and Opus New Media agencies.
