Clark, one-time chief executive of Mindshare UK, has relocated from London to New York to new offices for Maxus Global and starts work on 1 November.

In his new position, he will be responsible for expanding the international reach of the Maxus network, with a debut entry in the UK believed to be high on the agenda.

One of the first anticipated moves by Clark, according to sources, will be the rebranding of BJK&E, WPP's fourth-string agency in the UK, as Maxus, bringing it in line with international group operations.

No changes are expected to be made to BJK&E's senior management team, currently led by joint managing directors Tim Irwin and James Jennings.

BJK&E already shares a number of international clients with Maxus agencies in other markets, notably Palm, Ubisoft and Church and Dwight.

The launch of Maxus in the UK would enable the agency to pitch for clients where there is a conflict with WPP's existing media agency networks - MediaCom, Mindshare and Mediaedge:cia. This could include Tesco, but not Vodafone.

"Vodafone is a global pitch, but pitches are being held separately in each market," said Clark. "Maxus already has the account in India, but has no plans to pitch in the UK."

Maxus was established in response to client needs and the trend towards greater internationalisation within their businesses.

There are 33 Maxus offices around the world, including strongholds in Asia-Pacific and Central & Eastern Europe, in addition to Germany and the US.
