Cityjobs is selling off its web sites to Jobsite UK (Worldwide),
owner of GoJobsite, for around #340,000, Revolution can reveal.
Jobsite UK (Worldwide) will get www.cityjobs.co.uk and www.cityjobs.com
for #200,000 now and a further #140,000 in three months.
It is also thought Cityjobs will go cap in hand to investors for
#250,000 through a share issue. It will appeal to existing shareholders
at an extraordinary general meeting.
The sell-off is a further twist in the fortunes of Cityjobs, which came
under the spotlight when former managing director Peter Trowell was
alleged by a newspaper to have falsified his CV to conceal a spell in
prison.
Trowell, who denies the claim, recently quit the company.
Paul Jenkinson, who took over Trowell's position, was unavailable for
comment, but said at the time that staff had been unsettled by Peter
Trowell's departure. At the same time, he would not deny the company had
been in talks with rivals over a possible sale.
'We are in discussions nearly all the time with our competitors on a
whole range of issues,' he commented.
