The cinema operator, which has 49 multiplexes in the UK and Ireland, is offering the service in conjunction with Screenselect.co.uk, becoming the first cinema chain to enter the market.
The service marks the first phase of the establishment of Vue at Home as a brand in its own right, according to Mark De Quervain, Vue Entertainment's sales and marketing director.
Other plans being considered include selling DVDs online and offering film downloads. 'We want to broaden our entertainment offering and this is the first step in doing that,' said De Quervain.
Vue will promote the offering across its cinemas through on-screen ads and flyers. It is also planning a series of offers and promotions, which will be targeted at dedicated cinema-goers.
